Jan Sklenička is a rock cellist who does not only compose his own music but also arranges covers of famous songs for cello in an original way. You may appreciate covers of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Cranberries, Led Zeppelin and other bands. On his new CD you can find various music styles from rock, blues to gentle pieces supported by guitar solos, also jazz elements or classical music. His concert can be also an enrichment for your event.

He began to play the cello at the age of 6 under Václav Stoupa (Music school Stupartska).

After he successfully finished this school, he took private lessons from Bohuslava Dlouhá at Jan Deyl Conservatory.

At this time, he also played in several classical music ensembles.

In 2000 he was accepted to Prague Conservatory where he successfully finished his studies at 2007. He started his studies there under Tomáš Strašil and completed with Jaroslav Kulhan of Panoch quartet. He participated in several masterclasses given by Jennifer Morches, Petr Prause or MIroslav Zícha of Janacek Academy. During his studies he used to play and perform with a string quartet with his colleagues from Prague Conservatory and Academy. Except for his current rock activities, he previously played in bands of various music styles.

He released several music albums. For example, he played with alternative music band Noi from 2000 to 2005, he released two albums, second with Indies records agency. In the past, he played for example with famous Czech singer Bára Basiková at Hynek Tomm's concert. He also played solo in Suk Hall in Rudolfinum (Prague) or in 2012 he played in Municipal House (Prague) with the music band So fine and the guitarist Ged Maloney. What also should be mentioned is an album with Jiři Kadeřábek's band, released in 2001. From 2011 he cooperated and played in a duo with a singer Simona Maierová and was a member of the rock band Sandonorico, too. Now he occasionally cooperates with soloist of Prague National theatre Michaela Zajmi, actress Ivana Jirešová, guitarist Petr Urbánek and others. He is also preparing another CD.
